Deserve Then Desire - a Poem

 On Dispelling Hatred With
The Rays of the Inner Light

Olga Attovna Fedorova

Dedicated to H.P. Blavatsky

Deserve then desire - said once HPB.
Before bringing the harvest we desire,
Brave and persistent one must be,
For sowing seeds is here required.

What kind of harvest should one desire?
A title of Guru or a personal fame?
A formal “I-love-everyone” attire,
An egoistic, despicable aim?

Wish to be only lip-professors,
Energized by personal motives or ends?
Or abandon earthly possessions,
Following only the Masters’ trends?

If our preference is the latter,
And we’re sincere in the depth of the heart,
Then it is selflessness that matters
For us to seriously impart.

Thus every desire turns into action;
Otherwise, it is only energy waste
Remaining a pure abstraction:
The higher intentions it can’t embrace.

Before having high desires and projects,
We should in the first place deserve
To take on the Path of Woe’s bold steps
That to the Brotherhood can properly serve.

We must deserve to live in the days
When hatred leads the world astray;
And dispel it with the Inner Light rays.
Through the love of Fraternity, we can win the day.
